Office Engineer

Summary of Position

Unisun Development Corp: currently, we are looking for a candidate in the position Office Engineers.The Office Engineers act as the liaison between project managers, site engineers, and clients on construction projects, providing technical and administrative information to all parties involved in the project. This skilled position is perfect for individuals who possess technical knowledge but want to work inside an office in a more administrative function. The ability to seamlessly change hats and work with different audiences is essential to this role. Working hours can vary depending on the project schedule, but most office engineers work a typical five-day, eight-hour schedule. While office engineers work with all employees regardless of their position, they directly report to project managers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate between contractors, property owners and other utility services for assigned projects.
  • Review and process construction for project design submittals and ensure forms as per existing standards.
  • Analyze and recommend changes to contracts and prepare necessary amendments in contract document.
  • Manage and submit all reviewed contract document to contract administrators for further approval.
  • Prepare correspondence and documents related to assigned projects and facilitate in internal RTD scanning and archiving in line with closet procedure.
  • Provide assistance to project manager and supervise office engineering construction.
  • Perform inspection and prepare documents for entire contract work projects.
  • Ensure all contract works in compliance with contract documents.
  • Prepare project records with details such as field progress, field conditions, equipment use and corrective actions.
  • Review construction programme and monitoring
  • Review method statement
  • Prepare shop drawing, detail programme, temporary works design
  • Prepare monthly report on progress of assigned project with assistance of schedules, costs spreadsheets and perform analysis on same
  • Ensure bid packets contain engineering drawings, designs and specification for of bid document

Technical construction skills

  • Office engineers need to be intimately familiar with all aspects of construction projects, including practical and technical construction skills. This includes being familiar with local building and construction codes

Civil design

  • Civil engineering projects require a lot of planning and design, and office engineers should be familiar with designing such projects

Contract Management

  • It’s the office engineer’s job to make sure contracts are followed and managed appropriately, so they should be familiar with contract language and organization

Communication Skills

  • Since office engineers work with everyone on the project, they should be communication rock stars who can resolve conflicts quickly and efficiently

Time Management

  • Office engineers need to effectively manage their time so they don’t cause holdups in the overall progress of the project

Experience Required

Desired 2-5 years of construction experience, including inspection, project controls, estimating, and/or document management

Minimum Educational Level Required

Bachelor's Degree

Other Requirements

  • Desired 2-5 years of construction experience, including inspection, project controls, estimating, and/or document management
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering)
  • Four year college degree-preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture; demonstrated strong academic performance a must
  • Strong communication skills
  • Abe able to inspect in-progress construction work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, specifications, permits and drawings
  • Knowledge of state of the art construction techniques, project management and contract administration. Familiarity with various project delivery models (design/build, design-bid-build, GC/CM) is a plus
